NATIONAL CHAMPS ... HERE WE COME!

Updated: Nov 12, 2019

The harsh cold conditions at Banbury did little to to quell the high spiritis of many of the squads athletes as they succeeded in reaching the National Finals of the English Schools Cross-Country Cup.

Dr Challoners High did much as expected as they romped through both age groups with a bit of competition from Oxford High in the Junior Girls race securing their places yet again in the ESAA Cup Final in Derby on December 7th.

For Wycombe High it has been a few years since they last competed in this meet - indeed the veune (and motivation) on that occasion was Alnwick Castle also known as the backdrop to Hogwarths.

The Inter mediates were runners up in their age group event and secured a National slot. The ream which packed very well into the first 18 [laces was made up of Kesnhni Manek (11th), Tia Lomass (14th), Lyra Browning (17th) , Amber Galley (18th) and Annie Oakes.

Two other squad members celebrated as their schools made the National Finals for the first time ever.

Maddi Rae was well to the fore of the Inter Girls race finishing a superb 13th as Pipers Corner took third place in the Inter Girls race.

Misborne have never previously qualified from the County Round so there was even greater excitement when they scooped the third place spot in the Junior Girls with Lizzie Tucker scoring for her school in 26th.

Rory Hilton made his debut for Dr Challoners Grammar and was very happy to assist his school finishing 29th and help them to second on the day and the opportunity to compete again at the Cup Final.

Other girls in action included the WHS Juniors who finished a very commendable sixth team in their age group. The Team was made of Jo Snelling (17th), Ffion Harmon (18th) , Ruby Dale (27th), Aasshni Manek (29th), Florence Lee-Rubis (34th) and Sofia Lomass (44th).
