Desola Omonijo made a superb debut over 200m when competing at the Lee Valley Minithon meet on Saturday (Dec 9th). Running from lane one, she romped through the field to clock a hugely impressive 30.6 seconds. The Year Six student who trains with the Godstowe Monday group also made very impressive debuts ober 60m (0.25secs and 600m (1 min 58 secs).
She was partnered in each of these events by Team Captain for the day, Abi Thompson who produced a 200m PB in the same race to finish third. Illness this week probably deprived Abi of further new best figures over 60m and 600m.
The squad was well represented by 15 athletes over a range of events all returning with medals. Most impressive was the manner in which they all handled themselves in the hectic atmosphere of this popular event and many returned with signed autographs from Olympic stars Dina Asher-Smith and Dwain Chambers.
